What you need before you start and where Penstack fits with Shopify.
What is Penstack?
Penstack is a connected product-content workflow for Shopify. It helps turn the product information you already have into a more complete, publish-ready listing without making you bounce between separate tools and repetitive setup tasks.
The core workflow is Select product → Shape content → Review everything → Publish. You stay in control of the final product.
Do I need a Shopify store to use Penstack?
Yes. Penstack currently works with Shopify products. You connect a Shopify store, retrieve an existing product, work on it in Penstack, then publish approved updates back to Shopify.
Does the product need to exist in Shopify first?
Yes. Penstack starts with an existing Shopify product, even if that product is still a draft or only has basic information.
Create the product shell in Shopify first. Then choose its Status and Item in Penstack to retrieve it and continue the work.
Can I use Penstack with products that are already live?
Yes. You can retrieve an existing live product, improve its content, review your changes, and publish the updates back to the same Shopify listing.
Does Penstack replace Shopify?
No. Shopify remains your ecommerce platform and the home of the product itself.
Penstack is the working layer around product setup, content, SEO strategy, image details, organization, review, and publishing.
